Description

Stop motion puppet, 2006
8 in. tall

Step one, the armature.
Created with 1/16" aluminum armature wire, various sized K&S brass tubing, M3 nuts, grub screws, and some steel plating.
Removable feet, hands and head.

Step two, foam.
I definitely enjoyed this part - plus the great smell of contact cement mmmmmmm.....

Step three, clothing
For once I didn't really mind this step - but I made the sweatshirt based on the foam before I trimmed it down more... so now it's a bit baggy.

Step four, head, hands and feet
Yeah - there was a plan, but it didn't work out... my van aken wasn't quite what I needed in color and also in age... yuck! so, I back pedalled and just made them out of super sculpey to get some pics done quick - definitely going back soon and remaking those with the original plans!!!

And, nicely in the middle there, before the pupils were painted, is the zombie brain hungry pics!! Had to have some fun with it!!

At this point, I think I really just want to sculpt... I feel like learning to animate at the same time is going to make both suck vs. making one or the other good!!! So, for now, I think I'm going to persue the character maquettes for a little while... But, I will be back to the stop mo, nothing will stop it forever!!!!! :evillaugh:

Cool!
How did you shape the foam if I may ask? I'm trying to see if there would be a better less time consuming option besides slowly trimming with scissors and hoping that one calf is the same size as the other.
